GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter School (LMACS) is a public charter high school that targets at-risk adolescents who have officially dropped out of high school or who are seriously at-risk of doing so. The mission of LMACS is to enable students to achieve academic, career, and social success by providing a supportive community that identifies, encourages, and develops students' interests and abilities. The school was designated a Vanguard School by Massachusetts Insight and is a recipient of the Edgerly Leadership Award in recognition of student achievement on the MCAS.
This position is responsible for modifying academic curriculum, performing independent assessments, and providing individual and classroom support to student and classroom teachers as well as direct service for 9th through 12th grade students from diverse backgrounds. The special education teacher will be a full-time participant in and contributor to the program's planning, development and implementation. This is a unique teaching opportunity, offering the challenge to re-engage students in their education. This position reports to the Director of the Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter School. The position is contingent upon continued funding.
