The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Head Teacher who will be responsible for the planning and implementation of a complete early childhood program for a toddler classroom. The Head Teacher will establish and maintain relationships with all parents, supervise and mentor staff, and provide practicum experience and research opportunities to University students and faculty along with contributing professionally to the program and the community. Head Teachers are required to maintain 24-hours of professional development during their employment and maintain all state licensing, Keystone STARS, and NAEYC standards and requirements. Experience with children between the ages of 18 months and 3 years of age is required.
Minimum: Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or a Bachelors Degree in a related field that either includes or is supplemented by 30 credit hours in Child Development or Early Childhood Education. Early Childhood Certification is preferred.
The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
Work schedule varies based on classroom needs. Head Teacher will work one of three shifts between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
