DESCRIPTION: The Early Childhood Program Specialist 3 plans, organizes, performs, directs and assesses all work related to the development, implementation and evaluation of educational programming and childcare routines for individual children and for a class of children for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers. The teacher works intimately with parents/families building trust and respectful partnerships through which childrens’ individual learning plans and classroom curriculum are developed and implemented. This position leads the class’ education team and serves on the childcare leadership team. Under the general direction of the Director and working together with the Early Childhood Program Specialist 2, and with input from the part-time staff, this position will establish the classroom environment, learning experiences and systems including room arrangement, materials and supplies. PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English, and will include communication with people for whom English is a second language. Working with children requires the ability to walk or run quickly, change positions frequently, kneel or sit on the floor or sit on small chairs and uneven surfaces, and lift/carry a child up to 50 pounds. There is exposure to a variety of weather conditions and noise levels, and exposure to cleaning agents.
40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Schedule is 10.5 months per year with periodic scheduled days of leave without pay. July/August is 32 hours per week as part of the leave without pay cycle. Center coverage is from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, with regular schedule falling within those time frames. Some evenings and Saturdays are required.
Salary range 42. Beginning salary is $2,984 - $3,353 per month, with progressive increases to $3,883 plus a full state benefits package, including tuition waiver for college classes. Experience and training will be considered in salary placement.
