Ball State University invites applications for a full-time contract position at the rank of Lecturer as a Ballet Teacher and Choreographer. The program desires an individual with a commitment to collaborative discourse, interdisciplinary inquiry, and entrepreneurial learning practices within a flourishing BFA/BA/BS program in dance.
The successful candidate will teach all levels of ballet technique, as well as classical partnering, variations, and staging classical and contemporary masterworks. A secondary expertise in world or cultural forms, somatic practices, kinesiology, introduction to dance history, jazz and musical theatre forms, and/or pedagogy is highly desired.
The successful candidate will also have the ability to see ballet within the context of other forms and someone who can balance a contemporary and classical perspective, as well as its shifting and evolving nature within the world of dance today, collaborate on the vision, design, and management of the Dance program, mentor student creativity and research, and perform departmental and advisory duties as assigned. All faculty in the College of Fine Arts are expected to be quality teachers, productive scholars, or as appropriate to the position, creative artists, and to engage in public service activities.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus a minimum of three years consistent professional performance and/or choreography experience in established regional or national dance performance venues (this criteria is established through the Department's professional equivalency document).
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Ability to teach all levels of ballet dance technique.
M.F.A. in Dance (completed by August 1, 2018) from an accredited institution.
Three years of teaching at the university/college level with substantial professional experience.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and collegially within a liberal arts setting.
