This position coordinates, supervises and ensure the educational effectiveness of an assigned classroom. Individuals in this position are expected to focus on cultural unity and acceptance within the classroom, and to provide guidance and care to the children under their supervision.
Manage and oversee a childcare room(s) to ensure a supportive environment and ensure a safe and healthy, and environment including meeting strict hygienic and safety expectations for facility. Provide daily care includingproper food and beverage consumption, rest periods, and play time.
Plan, prepare, implement and evaluate curriculum activities that foster and encourage development of age appropriate skills. Develop individual learning goals with each child and work with them towards mastery of skills.
Coordinate and cooperate with local service organizations to assist in meeting child and family individual needs.
Conduct developmental assessments for each child, including identifying concerns in behavior or development.
Conduct parent's conferences and maintain ongoing parent communication, education, and relations on a regular basis.
Maintain proper documentation for injury, medication authorization, illness and suspicious incidents. Ensure certifications and qualifications are met on a continual basis, including Department of Health licensing, First Aid / Infant CPR and Food Handlers certification.
An associate's degree in early childhood education, child development or a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is required. Six months experience in a pre-school or childcare center is desirable. This position involves working in an office environment and requires the ability to use office equipment and related materials.
This position involves working with young children in a classroom setting and may require the ability to move quickly and lift objects up to 40 lbs.
