The Early Childhood Associate Teacher (Lead Teacher) works as a member of a teaching team with another Lead Teacher or an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher. The Lead Teacher guides and directs other classroom personnel including PSU student classroom aides, practicum students, researchers and volunteers.
The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing an engaging and intentional program for young children. The Lead Teacher acts as a model for other personnel in the classroom: teaching appropriate skills and techniques by example.
An Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or a related field; BA strongly preferred.
Two years of teaching experience in an early childhood program.
Successful completion of a background check.
BA Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Prior experience working with a diverse population of children and families.
Experience in a constructivist or Reggio-Inspired program and/or college/university early childhood program.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
