As an educator within the East Carolina University School, the Teacher Assistant will help support to cultivate a culture of innovation that supports effective instructional practices/strategies to promote student academic and personal success for all students in the school. The Teacher Assistant will work collaboratively with others to support the facilitation and implement innovative instruction to achieve the mission of the school. The Teacher Assistant will work collaboratively with the ECU Lab School Principal and university faculty/staff to support the successful social-emotional, physical, and academic development of the students within the lab school.
Responsibilities-Facilitate the instructional plans of the classroom teacher and school to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total lab school program.
- Implement the planned innovative strategies and integration of a variety of support services for students.
- Implement behavioral and social-emotional strategies to foster a positive climate for learning.
— Receive visitors within the assigned her/his classroom for the purpose of instruction, assistance, research, and observation.

Organizational Unit Overview:
The College of Education is currently seeking an individual to serve as a University Lab School Teacher Assistant to serve in a classroom at grades 2, 3, or 4 within the East Carolina University Lab School. The position is a temporary position in the College of Education. The ECU Lab School will be housed at South Greenville Elementary School. Teacher Assistants at the Lab School report to the ECU Lab School Principal. Teachers within the Lab School may coordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistants.
The East Carolina University Lab School involves cross campus collaboration to provide the students a spectrum of support and services to comprehensively address their academic, social-emotional, physical, and family/community needs. The lab school involves an integrated partnership with Pitt County Schools and will be housed within a local elementary school.
