Under the supervision of the ECEC Program Coordinator, receive work direction from Lead Teachers in the planning and implementation of daily curriculum relevant to the developmental needs, abilities and interests of children aged three months through Kindergarten. Plans and sets up of age-appropriate activities in art, language, cognitive development, physical development, science, nutrition, music, social development, emotional development, dramatic play and multi-cultural awareness. Writes lesson plans, parent conference and children evaluations. Provides supervision of children at all times, ensuring their safe and healthy exploration and development. Serves as a role model to Substitute Teachers, Student employees and Lab Students.
Must hold a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or above from the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Knowledge of and experience working within federal and state health safety regulations applicable to a child development facility.
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience using various emergency response procedures. Ability to act quickly, calmly and appropriately in hazardous situations.
Demonstrated experience using developmental assessment tools to prepare written assessments of children's growth and development.
Proven experience creating successful partnerships with parents, children, teachers and community representatives in providing a quality development and education program.
Understands and incorporates Child Development theory and best practices in early Childhood group care education settings.
Ability to speak, read and write English to be understood by young children and to prepare lesson plans, reports, evaluations and general correspondence.
Ability to coordinate the program for one group of children and their parents.
Experience in planning and implementation of curriculum for children aged three months to five years.
Ability to work with a variety of age-groups and flexibility to rotate through different classrooms as needed.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to remain focused, organized and self-paced. Ability to work with and be sensitive to a culturally diverse community.
Knowledge of Desired Results Developmental Profile (Revised) assessment tool acquired.
Ability to implement Piaget's Open Classroom Theory and/or Reggio Emilia Approach.
Completion of 3 college level units in "Infant-Toddler" coursework preferred.
Solid understanding of UCSD ECEC's philosophy, goals and objectives preferred.
Dept. of Justice Livescan fingerprint clearance and general background check are required prior to hire.
This position meets the requirements for a mandated reporter under CANRA.
Must possess and maintain the minimum of a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit from the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Must possess and maintain current First Aid/CPR Certification showing satisfactory completion of pediatric first-aid training, including managing a blocked airway and providing rescue breathing for infants and children.
Must possess and maintain current TB Clearance and Health Screening Report including evidence of annual flu shot. Must possess and maintain current immunization record.
Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds as necessary.
