Fall 2018 Immediate Opening- The Eastern Michigan University School of Music & Dance invites applications for a Part-Time Lecturer - Artist/Teacher of Trumpet. The successful candidate will recruit and teach applied trumpet to a studio of undergraduate and graduate majors and minors, TrumpetStudio Class, and the trumpet portion of Brass Class for music education majors. Additional consideration may be given to those with the ability to teach or assist in other academic areas as determined by candidate expertise. This appointment (salaried only, no benefits) will begin in the Fall 2018 semester.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.Perform related departmental duties as required.
Master of Music degree (preferably in trumpet performance) and significant applied trumpet teaching experience. The successful candidate should have an established record of public performance. College or university teaching experience is desirable.
