The College of Education at Michigan State University is seeking a coordinator who will provide instructional and logistical leadership for the 5th-year Teaching Internship experience in the Chicago Public Schools. This individual will provide primary oversight and coordination of intern field placements, working in collaboration with College of Education faculty and staff. This individual will provide professional development and support to field instructors and mentor teachers and will be involved in both course instruction and field instruction. Finally, this role involves establishing and sustaining partnerships with Chicago Public Schools teachers and administrators.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in and/or working with the Chicago Public Schools, possess excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal), and have experience in teacher preparation and leadership. The successful candidate must have the ability to function independently and as a member of the Teacher Preparation Program team at Michigan State University, including working with online student data management systems.
This position is located in Chicago and it is assumed that candidates will live in or near the city. Extensive travel is required to schools within the city of Chicago, as well as periodic travel to the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
Master’s degree or higher in teacher education, curriculum and instruction, or related field. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Experience in K12 teaching and/or teacher preparation and professional development.
Experience teaching diverse groups of students and demonstrated commitment to equity. Experience working with data and online course and/or data management systems. Experience working in or with Chicago Public Schools.
