Job Summary:
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in Curriculum and Instruction (Teacher Education) beginning Fall 2024.
Essential Duties:
This position has a priority focus on the practices and scholarship of teacher education. Successful candidates will 1) cultivate and maintain a successful program of research and scholarship; 2) teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in both traditional and online formats; 3) actively seek external funding opportunities commensurate with rank; and 4) engage in service to the department, university, community, and professional organizations. Candidates may possess an affiliation with a variety of disciplines (ESL,STEM, literacy, special education, etc.) and will also have a demonstrated and ongoing commitment to serving culturally and linguistically diverse students.
Required Qualifications:
Required qualifications for appointment at the Assistant level include:
- an earned doctorate in Teacher Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related discipline (awarded by August 2024)
- demonstrated potential to engage in high-quality research and grant writing
- knowledge of and/or experience in preservice and graduate teacher education
- demonstrated potential to effectively engage and collaborate with a diverse array of K-12 partners and stakeholders in teacher education
Additional required qualifications for appointment at the Associate level include:
- a defined research agenda and a strong record of scholarly publications
- evidence of prior grant funding
- evidence of strong undergraduate and/or graduate teaching at the higher education level, particularly in teacher education
- evidence of effective engagement and collaboration with a diverse array of K-12 partners and stakeholders in teacher education
Preferred Qualifications:
- K-12 teaching experience, teacher education experience
- an established track record of grant writing with experiences as a principal investigator or co-investigator
- a record of securing external funding for research and/or program growth and expansion
- a documented history of collaboration with PK-12 school partners
