This position will provide leadership for IAT programs located at Northwestern Michigan College (NMC). This position will provide leadership for the IAT programs located at NMC. Current programs: Fruit and Vegetable Crop Management, Landscape Management and Viticulture. Future programs may include Community Foods and others as identified. The specialist in this position will be jointly appointed to the Department of Horticulture and the possibilities of others as new programs are developed.
Responsibilities include: (1) counseling and advising students; (2) student recruitment, and internship placement and monitoring; (3) teaching courses in horticulture, soil science, leadership, career development, communications, and possibly developing and teaching other courses in the candidates area of expertise and/or as needed by the program; (4) fostering a working relationship with the agricultural industry, high school counselors and teachers and diverse communications in northwest Michigan; (5) evaluation of programs and curriculum; (6) working closely with appropriate departments for program delivery and development; and (7) assisting the Director and Associate Director with the exploration and development of new off-campus programs in partnership with NMC.
