The Department of Mathematics at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for a continuing system academic specialist position.
A Masters degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field at the time of hire is required, with a Ph.D. preferred. Candidates must have a demonstrated instructional excellence in gateway mathematics courses. Extensive experience with developing and/or leading a program in instructional mentoring and coordinating multi-section courses is desirable.
The successful candidate will work with instructors, graduate teaching assistants, and undergraduate learning assistants to improve their teaching, coordinate and teach introductory-level mathematics courses, and join a large and active group of teaching faculty focused on excellence in service course instruction in the mathematical sciences. The position will include a 1-1 teaching load, primarily focused on introductory courses (e.g. Survey of Calculus).
