Assistant Teacher, Early Learning Center – Georgetown University Law Center
The mission of Georgetown Law's Early Learning Center is to create a safe haven of learning for children of the law center community. We strive daily to create an environment that meets the needs of the students, faculty, staff and their children. Our goal is to minimize stress for parents of our community concerning quality childcare. When the stress and worry of childcare is reduced, parents in our community can best achieve their goals and the goals of the Law Center.
The Assistant Teacher , under the direct guidance of a Lead Teacher, provides support to the teacher in planning, initiating, and implementation of appropriate daily activities, which promote positive development and learning based on the strengths, interests, and needs of all the children in his or her class/group. S/he assists the teacher in communicating regularly with the parent(s)/guardian(s) of each child in his/her class/group about the development of their child(ren). Reporting the Director of the Early Learning Center, the Assistant Teacher has duties that include but are not limited to:
Assists in the supervision and giving appropriate care to the children in his/ her class/group
Assists the Teacher in planning and initiating appropriate daily activities, promoting positive development and learning based on the strengths, interests, and needs of the children in his/ her group/class
Assists in communicating regularly with the parent(s)/ guardian(s) of each child in his/ her class/group about the development of their child
Participates in on-going in-service training and continuing education requirements, annual/biannual yearly health assessments, and all other OSSE-mandated requirements
Be at least eighteen (1) years of age AND meet one (1) of the following four (4) sets of credentials:
