This specialist will join the interprofessional teaching team of Macomb site faculty, DMC site faculty, and faculty at the East Lansing campus to support the delivery of the COM medical school curriculum. This position will support the teaching team in developing and presenting lectures and laboratory sessions, creating learning and assessment instruments (including hard copy and online), grading student performance, holding office hours and help sessions, addressing student queries via e-mail and course-specific websites, and managing all aspects of course administration. It is expected that the specialist will be able to support student learning across the systems biology courses and some basic biomedical science domains (the specific combination will depend on candidate background and willingness to be cross-trained). In such a role, the specialist will be integrally involved supporting the COM medical school curriculum and dedicated to student learning. Additional responsibilities may include support of student research projects and outreach activities for MSUCOM in Southeast Michigan depending on the qualifications of the individual selected.
Masters -Healthcare Profression/Healthcare Educat
Qualifications for this position include a graduate degree and at least two years prior clinical experience in any of the health care professions (such as but not limited to RN, PA, RT, RD, etc.). Additional requirements include a strong interest in teaching, excellent communication skills, proficiency with evidence- based medicine resources and familiarity with a variety of instructional technologies. Prior teaching experience, prior research experience and familiarity with microbiology are preferred.
