Position Summary Responsibilities This position will be responsible for teaching coursework for the IAT Food Processing, Technology and Safety Certificate Program located at Michigan State University (MSU) and at IAT community college partners. Additional responsibilities will include maintenance and coordination of the food processing mobile labs/units. Units will include liquid processing (fruit, vegetable and milk), retort, and cereal grains. Responsibilities include: (1) teaching courses in food processing and in the candidate’s area of expertise and/or as needed by the program; (2) fostering a working relationship with the food processing industry, community college partners, high school counselors and teachers; (3) assist in assessment of program and curriculum student learning objectives; (4) maintenance and coordination of the food processing mobile labs/units; (5) assist with on campus pilot lab maintenance as needed during the summer, and (6) working closely with appropriate MSU Departments for program delivery and development. Position: Academic Specialist, one-year, full time appointment, renewable annually based upon performance and availability of funding. This position is jointly administered between IAT and FSHN. Unit Manger and Instructor – This position will be responsible for teaching coursework related to Food Processing and overall coordination and management of the Food Processing mobile units used at the IAT Community College partners for the Food Processing, Technology and Safety Certificate Program. Required Degree Masters -Food Science or Food Processing, Technology and Safety areas Desired Degree Doctorate -Food Science Minimum Requirements Required: Master of Science in Food Science, or Food Processing, Technology and Safety areas Three years of industry or teaching experience in food processing field Experience in food processing equipment operations
