About the Opportunity:
The Center for Young Children and Families at Plymouth State University is seeking an Early Childhood Educator who is committed, creative, intentional, and reflective in their work with children, and eager to grow their practice as researchers, learners, facilitators, celebrators and collaborators. They will work as part of a collaborative teaching team to design engaging learning environments and a play-based, constructivist curriculum that is responsive to children’s emergent interests and needs and demonstrates an anti-bias approach. We seek an educator who can support children in: developing a healthy sense of self in relationships with other people, collaborating and cooperating to solve problems, and engaging in strong and playful physical activity. They will use effective communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate strength in creating partnerships with children, peers, families and university students. As a supervisor and mentor to university students, they will strive to model best practices in the field and support student learning and use of these practices. The Early Childhood Educator will learn and utilize the Pyramid Model Framework to promote and support social emotional competence and will demonstrate an understanding of and utilize positive approaches to guidance and discipline. They will be expected to demonstrate high professional and ethical standards. This position runs for ten months of the year (late August to mid June). Will perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
