Location: Hyde Park Campus Job Description: Job Summary:Â Â Reporting to their respective Principals, and responsible to the Art Department Chair, Art teachers will establish a safe and secure work environment and set appropriate classroom standards for students through being attuned to the creative process. Responsibilities:Â Â - Continually assess student work and communicate to parents both informally and formally in biannual written progress reports.Â
- Maintain collegial relations with fellow teachers both within and outside of the department. Prepare student artwork for Lab School exhibitions.Â
- Attend regular department and faculty meetings and, as required, meet with the department chair, administrators, parents, and others in the Laboratory Schools' community.Â
- Work creatively with students who have a variety of learning styles and personal needs.
- All teachers are expected to perform in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and are expected to work the required 179 days or days as stipulated in that agreement.
- The anticipated start date for this position is 9/1/2021. Â

Education, Experience or Certifications: Education: Â Â - Bachelor's degree in art education, art or BFA required.
- Master's of fine arts or arts education preferred.Â
Experience: Â - Minimum two years primary or LS teaching experience in a school-based art studio classroom required or commensurate experience.
- Working knowledge developing curriculum required.
- Practicing artist preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: - Move in and around the classroom/building to interact with students, faculty, staff, parents, and other members of the community.
- Move class-related equipment/tools, as appropriate, around school property.
- When appropriate, escort children from one classroom to another, in and out of the building during arrival and dismissal, and in an emergency situation.
