This is a 100 percent, 10-month continuous appointment. Start date is August 16, 2021. The 10-month appointment dates for the 2021-22 academic year are August 16, 2021-June 12, 2022. Depending on availability, the new hire may begin August 1 for training.
DUTIES: 1.) Assist teacher in implementation of program plan to advance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual competence of the children. (60%) This includes: â— Providing environment of acceptance in which children can grow toward a sense of positive identity.â— Accurately observing, recording, and reporting individual and group behaviors.â— Planning and carrying out daily activities for a group of children.â— Preparation of educational materials required to implement the daily program.â— Provide sanitary and social meal/snack times
2.) Purchase food and supplies needed for the program and department. (15%)
3.) Participate in maintaining positive communications with program families and program planning. (15%) â— Assists in communications with families via email, letters home, or posted program updates or notices.â— Contributes to monthly newsletter, assists in editing and distributing via Google Groups to families.â— Assist with planning, scheduling, and arranging travel for class field trips as well as assisting in collaboration with other university departments, as well as other community early childhood professionals and specialists.
4.) Participate in establishing and maintaining an attractive, safe, healthy learning environment. Works with the Head Teacher to ensure the care and program meets or exceeds state licensing standards. (5%)
5.) Direct part-time student staff and substitute staff in the care of children and provision of activities. (2%)
6.) Stays knowledgeable of and completes all yearly required in-service hrs. (currently 24 hrs.) as mandated by MDHS State Licensing. (3%)
7.) Other duties as assigned.
