Salary range: Salary is commensurate with experience but typically begins at $62,455 and prorated in accordance with experience and instructional workload calculation.
This position is in a represented bargaining unit. Percent time: Fall (August - December) - 5 hours per week
Spring (January - May) - 10 hours per week
Summer (June-July) - 25 hours per week
Anticipated start: 3/21/22 for Spring 2022 appointments. Depending on timing of interviews, later start dates will be scheduled.
Position duration: This position will be year-round, with a considerable amount of dedicated time in the Summer, and planning time throughout the year.

Position description Bay Area Writing Project (BAWP), Teacher-Special Programs
The Bay Area Writing Project (BAWP) in Graduate School of Education (GSE) at the University of California, Berkeley seeks an individual to serve as Teacher- Special Programs. The Bay Area Writing Project (BAWP), based at the University of California, Berkeley, is an organization of, by, and for teachers of writing at all grade levels and in all disciplines, dedicated to improving the teaching and uses of writing through a variety of programs-both on the University campus and in the Bay Area schools.
Responsibilities Include: - Invitational Summer Institute (ISI) Program Lead
- Teachers of Writing and Language Instruction Program Summer Institute Program Lead
Invitational Summer Institute Coordinator
- Collaboratively develop an outreach plan for nominations
- Lead application review and selection process in January
- Planning throughout year includes (setting meeting times and agendas for lead team, designing flow for agendas in ISI)
- Lead some sections of ISI agenda (e.g., equity, research workshops, possibly demo)
- Select a central text for the ISI
- Co-plan the ISI interview day
- Lead planning and facilitation of pre-institute day and coaching
- Leads 3-week ISI (June)
- Participate in planning and facilitation of follow-up day
- Lead team meetings during ISI
Teachers of Writing and Language Instruction Program Summer Institute Program Lead
- Lead outreach to presenters
- Coach presenters
- Lead strategic thinking and planning for summer institute
- Communicate with Project Directors
- Debrief with team and presenters
General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, duties may include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials, and collaborating with leadership, instructors, and supervisors.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree).
Preferred qualifications
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years teaching experience. Familiarity with Bay Area Writing Project work is preferred.
