ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Develops and plans curriculum and lessons that follow CA State content standards and are individualized and differentiated to meet the needs of the students.
Delivers pedagogically sound instruction, using multi-sensory techniques for mixed grade and multi-level classrooms.
Engages students in direct, explicit instruction through small groups, whole, and individual settings.
Uses behavioral and classroom management skills and strategies that provide a safe learning environment for all students.
Supervises a teaching associate; provide direction and facilitate communication to create a positive working/learning environment.
Participates in professional development opportunities, such a as workshops, conferences and literature and discussions.
Design and administer assessments, and use collection to guide teaching, student learning outcomes, and updated progress reporting for individual students.
Develops, reviews, and presents updated progress reporting to families, students, allied professionals, and staff.
Works with administration to maintains regular parent communication with regard to academics, behaviors, and general class/subject area information.
Communicates regularly with parents, allied professionals, and colleagues via email, phone calls, and other school-related forms of communication.
Documents all conferences, phone calls, incident reports, and meeting interactions with students, families, and allied professionals.
Actively participates and attends special events including, Graduation, Open House, Back to School Night, Awards Night, Field Studies Week, and holiday performances, assemblies, and field trips.
Facilitates case management through direct communication between staff and families, allied professionals, and administration. Provides regular communication through emails, meetings, SSTs, and conferences.
Leads Parent-Teacher conferences and acts as liaison for follow up and implementation of next steps.
QUALIFICIATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Must hold a valid California Special Education Teaching Credential with Mild/Moderate- Candidates with a general education credential would be considered in the applicant pool
Minimum of two years' experience, preferably lead teaching in a classroom setting, with students with learning differences.
Experience and or training in one or more of the following instructional strategies: Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood Bell, Slingerland is a plus.
Knowledge and experience in using best practice, research-based instruction, and remedial strategies for students with learning disabilities
