Position Summary
The Analytical and Physical (A/P) Laboratory Coordinators will oversee operation of several courses including freshman-level honors general chemistry (CEM 185H), sophomore-level quantitative analysis (CEM 262), as well as upper-level courses in instrumental analysis (CEM 333, 395 and 435) and molecular spectroscopy (CEM 495). The coordinators will report to the Chemistry Chair and will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in the Chemistry Department in providing a comprehensive undergraduate laboratory training to our students. In addition to the modern instrumentation housed in our A/P laboratories, students use state-of-the-art instruments in our departmental X-ray crystallography and magnetic resonance research facilities.
Each Coordinator’s primary function will be to provide an excellent A/P chemistry laboratory experience for undergraduate students while creating a sense of community among our chemistry majors. Their responsibilities include teaching and the administration of their assigned laboratory courses, the design and update of new and existing experiments, acquisition and maintenance of laboratory instruments, and the mentorship of graduate teaching assistants.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Ph.D. Chemistry or related field
Minimum Requirements
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field, with emphasis or experience in Analytical and/or Physical Chemistry, as well as teaching experience at the undergraduate level are required.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with maintaining laboratory instrumentation and computers, and in teaching assistant training are desirable. Applicants are also welcome to provide evidence for teamwork and problem-solving skills. In addition, applicants must be committed to enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the classroom.
