Job DescriptionPosition Summary
This position is responsible for growing the graduation rate of the College by providing leadership to a program that offers Pine Manor College students the opportunity for field-work experience in the area of Early Childhood Education: Health and Leadership. Position Scope
Lead Teacher at the Pine Manor Child Study Center
Teachers are responsible for implementing curriculum and assisting the Lead Teacher with the overall management of the classroom. Teachers supervise the children, plan activities, interact with families and interact with other team teachers. All Teachers will meet the Dept. of Early Education and Care qualifications for state certification.
Responsibilities:
Meet weekly with team teachers to discuss curriculum, plan, assess, and set goals for the program based on assessment of children.
Set up room each morning and/or afternoon with activities for choice time
Greet families at the beginning and/or end of the day
Assist children with toileting and diapering and help children dress appropriately for the weather
Interact with children and assess each child's progress
Help the Lead Teachers with supervision of student teachers from Pine Manor College
Supervise outdoor play with other team teachers
Help with snack preparation, serving, and cleanup
Organize curriculum materials daily
Write a weekly curriculum plan with the other teachers in the team
Attend Staff Meeting once/week
Responsible for the general maintenance of the classroom, assisting in disinfecting tables, sweeping floors, reporting any broken or damaged materials and supplies to the Director
Write progress reports every 6 months for half of the children in the class
Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Director
Communicate Daily with Team Teachers
Attend outside trainings, workshops, conferences to assist with career development including CPR and First Aid Training as required by EEC
Meet with the Director annually to discuss staff evaluation and set career goals
Assess the program with the team at least annually
Qualifications
Teachers must be at least 21 years of age or they must have a high school diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed 3 credits in Child Growth and Development and the amount of work experience combined with education as described by the Dept. of Early Education and Care. Prior experience working with children ages 3-5 is preferred. Team work and strong oral communication skills are essential. Working conditions include lifting 2 and 3 year old children at times, but minimally, and sitting on the floor and in pre-school sized chairs at various times throughout the day.
