Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the position is to provide care for children in a child-initiated, teacher-directed and developmentally appropriate environment. This position is responsible for planning and facilitating developmentally appropriate activities as part of a comprehensive program for children's physical, cognitive, emotional and social growth. This position also requires supervising student staff and observation students from UW-River Falls and other local agencies of education. This is a 12-month appointment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 30 credits related to early childhood or school age care
- Registry Certificate of a level 12 or higher or eligibility to register at level 12
- Two years experience working with young children in a group setting
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff
- Ability to provide leadership and effectively work as a team
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to successfully pass a post-offer employment test
Preferred:
- Degree in early childhood education or related field
- Two years experience working with toddlers in a classroom setting
- Knowledge of YoungStar Quality Rating System, Department of Children and Families Division of Early Care and Education (DCF 251), and Cognia Accreditation
