Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of the Classroom Teacher is to guide and develop the emotional, behavioral, and academic growth of their students, and to work collaboratively with parents, colleagues, administrators, and school community members to support the mission of Niner University Elementary in Charlotte, NC.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials using effective teaching strategies that meet the needs of diverse populations and are aligned to the mission/vision of the school
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests, including students with disabilities and limited English proficiencies
Observe and assess students' performance, behavior, social development and physical health on a regular basis to appropriately meet student needs; provide progress reports for feedback
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum and individual student goals
Instruct students individually and in groups during the instructional time, using various teaching methods
Encourage and facilitate work of other staff members in a collaborative, supportive environment
Create a positive, warm classroom environment that responds to the needs of individual learners
Communicate with parents in a timely manner and maintain positive and constructive communication with students, staff, parents and community
Demonstrate a capacity for cultivating culturally and linguistically inclusive and responsive relationships among students, colleagues, and parents
Design and implement environmental modifications and management procedures which proactively address student behavioral expectations across all settings
Maintain attendance records as required by the school
Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops as required by the position
Follow a plan for professional development and demonstrate evidence of growth
Perform any other duties as assigned by AdministrationMinimum Experience / Education:
Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
2-3 years experience in a K-5, elementary setting
Master's degree
Evidence of skill working with at risk student populations
Demonstrated success with early literacy
Knowledge of social emotional learning
