Job DescriptionPosition Summary:
To provide a high quality, full day preschool program for the children of university personnel, students and neighborhood residents. Create and implement a play based, developmentally appropriate curriculum for assigned class, within a co-teaching model. Assist the Director in implementing Center policies and procedures. Join and support a professional, collaborative team environment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
-Create a safe,nurturing environment for all children
-Partner effectively with parents and families to foster each child's growth and development.
-Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences with a co-teacher and with the entire team.
-Display the ability to lead the class and work effectively in a co-teaching model
-Develop and implement learning experiences which are hands on, engaging, child centered, playful, anti-biased across all curriculum areas
-Use MADOE/MAEEC and NAEYC standards guidelines and criteria for program and curriculum development.
-Utilize a positive guidance approach while promoting social emotional growth, problem solving, and independence skills
-Provide required supervision and appropriate guidance of children at all times
-Individualize programming by observing and assessing children on an ongoing basis
-Document curriculum and children's learning using varied media such as: planning book, observation notes, photographs, work samples, class books, documentation boards etc.
- Document individual children's growth and progress using assessment tools from CorsAdvantage and a child's work portfolio.
-Generate developmental, narrative assessment reports twice a year.
-Conference with parents twice a year or more often as needed.
-Communicate and consult with appropriate Center staff, outside specialists, and parents about any concerns.
-Attend and participate in Center meetings, events, conferences, etc. including some evening events or meetings.
-Abide by the schedules and work rules of the Center and University.
-Show flexibility and adapt to changes in routine operations.
-Supervise and direct work study students and pre-practicum students.
- Participate in required Licensing and Accreditation documentation
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $45,450 to $56,800; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
RequirementsEducation:
BA degree in Early Childhood or related education field. Other credentials with classroom experience may be considered as qualifications. Minimum MAEEC Lead Teacher Preschool Certification.
Experience:
Minimum 1 to 2 years preschool teaching experience. Preference 3+ years preschool teaching experience with 2.9-5 year olds. Some Admin experience a plus.
