Math teachers develop and execute engaging and interactive math lessons creating an environment that allows students to think critically and independently. The teachers are responsible for developing curriculum, supervising students both in and out of the classroom, and maintaining up-to-date teaching techniques to provide students with a quality educational experience. Teachers build relationships with students, families, and staff in order to foster a culture of community. Teachers are expected to maintain strong lines of communication with families about student progress, and to support and collaborate closely with colleagues in the pursuit of Labâ™s mission. We are looking for teachers who project an air of optimism; who will share feedback to help students learn problem-solving; who can reflect on how their actions affect others;Â and who will work each day to create a rich learning environment, and a culture of intellectual curiosity.
The Math Department is responsible for the math education of students in grades 6 - 12, and for serving as an advisor for a small cohort of students.Â
The courses taught by the Math Department include sixth-grade math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Discrete Math, Statistics, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.Â
Two levels of math classes, regular paced and accelerated, both of which are college preparatory, are offered.Â

Education, Experience, or Certifications:
Education:Â Â Â Â Â
Bachelor's degree required.Â
Master's degree preferred.Â Â
At least two years of teaching experience preferred.
Teaching experience at the Middle and/or High school level preferred.Â
Experience working with a wide range of students with diverse backgrounds such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, learning abilities, class, language and nationality preferred.
Ability to use mathematics software such as Desmos and Geometerâ™s sketchpad preferred.
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
Ability to use standard productivity software (Microsoft Office, calendar/schedule software, etc.) required.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Ability to move in and around the classroom/building to interact with students, faculty, staff, parents, and other members of the community.
Ability to move class-related equipment/tools, as appropriate, around school property
When appropriate, the ability to escort children from one classroom to another, in and out of the building during arrival and dismissal, and in an emergency situation.
Ability to demonstrate lessons, when appropriate.
