Job Summary: Under the direction of the Early Childhood Learning Center Director, the Substitute teacher will be responsible for assisting in the overall planning and implementation of a developmental program for children between the ages of three years to five years in a full day setting. The Substitute teacher will participate in the daily implementation of the program including planning, assisting in supervision of student aides and ensuring the good health and safety of all children.
Salary: Pay Rate: $18.34 - $18.75 per hour

Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as primary teacher for a group of 12-16 children.
Assist in planning/implementing daily activities.
Assist in completion of daily lesson plans as needed.
Provide direction to classroom aides.
Maintain neat, orderly and safe classroom and cubby area.
Work independently and demonstrate an interest in learning new skills.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Execute all responsibilities in a professional manner.
Understand mandated reporting laws and report any suspected abuse to ECLC Director.
Supervise nap room and student aides scheduled to work during nap time.
QUALIFICATIONS
Twelve units of Early Childhood Education Courses (Teacher Qualified)
Experience (150 supervised hours in an early childhood setting)
Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU's Community Life Covenant.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Vision to read documents, email and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.
