The Department of Teacher Education and Foundations seeks a Full-time Multiple and Single Subject Program Coordinator to assume the coordination of the Multiple and Single Subject Credential Programs. The coordinator will report directly to the Department Chair and indirectly to the Dean of COE. The individual will work closely with the Department Chair, faculty, staff, and students.

JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Teacher Education and Foundations seeks a Full-time Multiple and Single Subject Program Coordinator to assume the coordination of the Multiple and Single Subject Credential Programs. The coordinator will report directly to the Department Chair and indirectly to the Dean of COE. The individual will work closely with the Department Chair, faculty, staff, and students. The key responsibilities of the program coordinator include:

Provide leadership in student recruitment, selection, and advising.

Ensure progression of students from beginning to the end of the program.

Prepare, update, and maintain program promotional materials and website.

Lead faculty to conduct admission interviews.

Organize and conduct new student orientation.

Organize program meetings and participate in department meetings.

Take a leadership role during the CTC accreditation process.

Identify and analyze students' needs and provide creative solutions.

Serve as an advocate for all students.

Consult with department chair regarding part time program instructors.

Collaborate with the chair to prepare the class schedules each semester.

Prepare the Annual Program Report for both programs.

Participate in Extended Leadership and Unit Assessment meetings.

Organize annual Advisory Board meetings with selected people from the communities we serve.

Other duties assigned by the Chair.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

Student advising, day-to-day administration of the two programs

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students across a wide range of disciplines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Earned a Ph. D. or Ed. D. or master's degree in education.

Previous experience as a credential teacher at the K-12 levels.

Excellent communication skills

Strong people skills

Ability to do follow up with students, applicants, faculty, and department chair.

Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.

Direct experience of managing a program

Ability to do critical troubleshooting and problem solving.

Experience in working with adult and part-time learners.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 
  Earned a Ph. D. or Ed. D. in Education.
  
  
• Has a credential in elementary or secondary education (or both).
  
  
• Has administrative experience at K-12 and/or teacher preparation programs.
  
  
• Has taught classes and/or supervised credential student teachers at the university level.
  
  
• Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively (as a team player) with administrators, program coordinators, faculty, staff, and students.
  
  
• Demonstrate ability to work successfully with underserved students, first-generation university students, English learners, students with disabilities, and diverse student population.
  
  
• Demonstrate ability to work with internal and external constituencies, including Liberal Study Coordinator, school districts, and CTC.
  
  
• Demonstrate ability to oversee a wide range of programs, faculty, and students in the programs.
  
  
• Demonstrate flexibility and receptivity to change.
  
  
• Availability to be in the office at least 3 days in a week.
  
  
• Priority will be given to lecturers at WCOE, CSUSB
  

Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.
