Job Description:

The College of Education at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Teacher Education: Middle & Secondary. Qualified candidates will support, sustain, and expand our commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

We seek a colleague possessing experience working with a broad population of stakeholders from a variety of school contexts who can engage in the culture of teaching, scholarship, and service within the College of Education, the university, and the surrounding community. Additionally, we seek a colleague who will actively contribute to the success of our students, engage in the collaborative and interdisciplinary work of faculty, and advance the mission of our program, college, and university.

Responsibilities for the position will include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in hybrid, in-person, and online formats, advising students, maintaining an active scholarship agenda, and engaging in service inside and outside of the university.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Earned Doctorate in Teacher Education, Secondary Education, or a related field (A.B.D. candidates will be considered and are invited to apply).
• Minimum of three years PK-12 mathematics teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Capacity to provide leadership to the program, department, college, and university.
• Experience with designing curriculum focused on middle and secondary teacher education.
• Established record of scholarship in education.
• Evidence of service to department, college, community, and profession.
• Background in mathematics/science teacher education.
• Knowledge of Michigan Standards for the Preparation of Teachers.
• Experience teaching in 7-12 classrooms.
• Experience in teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Prior work supervising fieldwork in middle and secondary school contexts.
