Position Summary:
The Department of Teacher and Special Education at Central Michigan University invites applications for a half-time, fixed-term faculty to fulfill various courses in our specialty areas of Teacher Education (PK to 12th Grade), Special Education (Birth to 12th Grade), and Teaching English Learners (PK-12th Grade). The primary professional responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in educator preparation programs. This includes a 2-course teaching load, fall and spring semesters, in the academic year (2-2). This may include coursework with connected clinical supervision coursework (some with field-based, up to 60-mile travel radius). Courses will mostly be offered in-person, on-campus, at our Mount Pleasant campus, during daytime and evening hours. This position is effective August 18, 2025. CMU is seeking a candidate who can teach beginning Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 semester, however, preference will be given to those able to start in Fall 2025.
Required Qualifications:
Masters degree in Education or related content field for Teacher Education (see specialty areas listed as reference).
Three academic years of PK-12 U.S. experience teaching students.
Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated commitment to the field of educator preparation and education.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree or ABD in field of education (e.g., curriculum & instruction; teacher education).
Evidence of postsecondary teaching effectiveness.
Experience with online instruction and other modalities.
Expertise in one or more areas: (a) early and elementary literacy, (b) Teaching English Learners (TEL), secondary education (middle and high school levels) pedagogy and assessment, and (d) clinical supervision experiences in early childhood, elementary, and/or secondary levels.
