POSITION DESCRIPTION: We are hiring for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Special Education and Residency Director of the NYU Teacher Residency, to be located in Syracuse, NY.

New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position in the NYU Teacher Residency in Special Education and Residency Director in Syracuse NY. This is a 12-month position with the potential for extension, including for multi-year contracts. This position will begin in June 2023.  The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Teaching and Learning. RESPONSIBILITIES: ­Teach online modules in special education in the Teacher Residency and serve as Special Education Content Mentor in the program. Collaborate with Department faculty on assessment and evaluation of study programs.  Serve as Residency Director providing liaison support between NYU Resident Teachers and our district partners in the Syracuse City School District. Collaborate with Department faculty to develop and implement communication processes with partner school leadership and onsite program liaisons.  Provide ongoing teaching efficacy and professionalism feedback to NYU Resident Teacher cohorts.  Provide professional development for Teaching Mentors within school settings.  Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement in­-person and online professional learning communities for Resident Teachers, Teaching Mentors, and Teacher Residency graduates during the Induction year.  Assist in the facilitation of program orientations, recruitment events, and application reviews.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $130,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate in Special Education or a closely related field is required, as well as proven excellence as a teacher and strong applied scholarship related to special education, disability, and related fields.  Minimum of 5 years experience teaching and/or working in complex urban settings required.  Preference to candidates with deep understanding of Syracuse City School District. Demonstrated experience coaching and building leadership capacity in new and experienced special education  teachers. We seek candidates who have knowledge and understanding of teacher residencies and demonstrated experience in and passion for work in urban schools. Comfort with technology-­enhanced education is required.
