Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree. Current State of Iowa teaching license (initial, standard, or master) in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education or Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Education Endorsement (endorsement 100 and/or 103).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with children birth through age five in a group setting
Experience working with children with identified special needs
Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices related to young children and their families
Experience planning and implementing curriculum
Job Description:
The Child Development Laboratory School at Iowa State University is seeking applications for an Early Childhood Teacher Assistantto educate a group of young children, including children with disabilities. Responsibilities include assessment of childrenâs development, plan and implement activities to meet individual child needs, collaborative activities with other Lab School staff, communication with parents, and work with Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) faculty who place practicum students in the Lab School.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of appropriate expectations for young children. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work as part of a team, assess students and document progress, work with children who have identified special needs, plan and implement curriculum, be self-reflective, and have a positive attitude.
