The University of Texas Permian Basin STEM Academy Charter School is seeking student-centered individuals to teach in classrooms for 3d Grade Science. Teachers design and deliver instructional lessons which provide appropriate educational opportunities and instruction for each student, according to his/her needs and abilities.
The general responsibilities for this position include:• Develop current lesson plans (daily and/or weekly) and instructional materials that provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. Provide planned learning experiences that motivate students, utilize best practices, are inclusive of parent participation, and are developmentally appropriate. Select and utilize appropriate instructional materials, aids, and supplies that assist in the development of innovative, well-organized units of study• Participate cooperatively in the system of evaluation as stated in the Charter’s guidelines. Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare student reports and communicate with parents regarding their child’s progress• Participate in assigned committees, school and parent meetings• Additional duties, as assigned
WORK SCHEDULE: This is an exempt, non-tenured TEA funded teaching position. Teachers are scheduled to teach and participate in various professional development days, as scheduled each academic school year. Generally, this position will require the Teacher to be on campus during the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. In this role, evening and weekend hours may be required to grade materials, create lesson plans, and attend parent meetings and other academic events. Additional duties, such as morning and lunch duty, will be assigned that will require extended workdays.

• Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in a STEM field or Curriculum and Instruction• A valid Texas teaching certificate• Minimum of one to three years of K-12 teaching• Candidates without a Master’s Degree will be required to enroll in an accredited program within 18 months of hire and earn the degree within 5 years of hire• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning• All UTPB employees must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Preference will be given to educators with experience using various technologies in a STEM field
