Job Description
Design, prepare, manage, and maintain a world-class, model laboratory preschool environment. Represent Wellesley College and the Child Study Center to current and prospective parents, professional colleagues, and the general public. Develop relationships with up to 16 children in the classroom and, to a lesser extent, with all children in the school. Counsel, advise, and confer with parents, local school systems, outside agencies, and early childhood specialists. Interface with Wellesley College Faculty, Student Teachers, Student Researchers, Parents, and Caregivers, demonstrating expertise in child development and early childhood education. Facilitate classroom observations for Professors, Students, Parents, and visitors. Help design and facilitate Faculty & Student research. Train and supervise Assistant Teacher, Team Teacher, Student Interns, Student Teachers, and Classroom volunteers. Develop, organize, and design creative, exemplary outdoor and indoor environment and curriculum. Evaluate and document classroom activities and children’s behavior. Lead daily team meetings and designated staff, planning, clinical consultant, parent education, and other ad hoc meetings. Lead parent conferences in Fall and Spring, write and supervise the writing of children's conference and progress reports. Lead the annual set-up of the classroom at beginning of school year and annual curriculum/classroom inventory at close of school year. Lead various professional activities in Child Psychology and Early Childhood Education. Attend relevant workshops and seminars to maintain professional qualifications and stay up-to-date on current research, ideas, and trends in psychology, young children, and the early childhood industry. Present case histories to clinical consultant. Conduct home visits. Present professional workshops and lectures to staff, students, other preschool professionals, and the general public. Schedule: Full Time, 10-month position
Requirements:
- Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Lead Teacher Certification. Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience with young children in a professional setting.
- Expertise in child development and early childhood education.
- Fluency in English language.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail.
- Physical capacity to care for young children.
- Ability to work effectively in an inclusive, culturally diverse environment.
