Job Summary: The Special Education Teacher provides instruction as well as an appropriate learning environment for children with special needs. Develops and implements individual instructional plans. Communicates with the student's families or guardians. Supervises other classroom staff.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Special Education, or Early Childhood Development.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: A current Teacher Certificate issued by the Alabama State Department of Education OR the ability to obtain a Teacher Certificate issued by the Alabama State Department of Education within six (6) months of employment.
Must be able to perform crisis intervention techniques.
Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.
Final candidates who are not current Brewer-Porch Children's Center employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification in the area of Special Education preferred.
